Fields of Dreams: Massive Millbrook sports complex opens

MILLBROOK – The Fields at 17 Springs, a massive multi-sports complex in Millbrook, celebrated the opening of its first phase Tuesday evening.

Announced in July 2020, the sprawling site covers about 120 acres and plans are for construction to cover three phases. Phase one includes soccer fields as well as tennis and pickle balls courts. Activities on the fields have been going on for several months.

Oh, and a large pond, too. About 20 acres are reserved for commercial development.

The cost when the project was announced was estimated at about $35 million. Partners including the City of Millbrook, the Elmore County Commission, the Elmore County Board of Education, the Elmore County Economic and Development Authority and the Grandview YMCA are paying for the complex.

The complex gets its name from the abundance of artesian wells and overflowing springs on the property.
