A 25-year-old man was declared deceased and two others injured in a fiery multi-vehicle collision Sunday night on Air Expressway Boulevard in Victorville.

The Victorville Sheriff’s Station reported that the parties involved in the collision included the deceased driver from Victorville who was in a 2007 Toyota Corolla.

Also involved were a 50-year-old man from Hesperia in a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado and a 46-year-old woman from Hesperia in a 2013 Kia Soul. Both parties suffered unknown injuries and were transported to an area hospital.

Another man involved, a 26 year old from Hesperia in a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, was not reported as injured.

The collision

Through preliminary investigation, it appeared that the Toyota Corolla traveled west on Air Expressway Boulevard and attempted to pass a vehicle by merging into oncoming traffic, according to sheriff’s officials.

The Corolla then collided head-on with the Chevrolet Silverado followed by the Kia Soul. The Corolla and the Silverado were immediately engulfed in flames.

The impact caused the Soul to roll multiple times before it struck a Volkswagen Jetta. The driver of the Corolla suffered major injuries and despite lifesaving efforts, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators from the Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is urged by the Sheriff’s Department to contact Deputy Tyler Whitcomb or Sergeant Nicholas Clark at the Victorville Sheriff's Station at 760-241-2911.
