The Fifth-Gen Honda Prelude Still Impresses 20 Years Later

From Road & Track

The fifth-generation Honda Prelude showed up in late 1996 with great looks, a 200-hp four-cylinder engine, and an excellent manual transmission. It also handled so well that it was easy to forget the Prelude was front-wheel drive.

Now, 20 years after the Prelude was first introduced, how does it hold up? Is it still the cool, affordable sports car we remember it as, or has time been less than kind to it?

For his latest One Take, Matt Farah took out a 2000 Honda Prelude, and even though it was almost entirely stock, it sounds like the Prelude still drives quite well. The ride is apparently softer than he remembered, but otherwise, everything that made the Prelude great when it was new is still there.

Even better, prices on used Preludes are incredibly low, so you can pick one up for next to nothing. Just an idea.
