Fifth-ranked Hawks pile up points in playoff win over Mount Ayr

Oct. 30—SULLY — Corder Noun Harder registered his fourth career 200-yard rushing game and scored touchdowns in all three phases, Kyle Squires added two rushing TDs and the Hawks averaged 13.6 yards per carry during a 62-33 home win in the second round of the Class A playoffs on Friday night.

Fifth-ranked Lynnville-Sully led 15-0 after one quarter and outscored the Raiders 14-0 in the second to advance to next week's quarterfinals.

Noun Harder rushed for a career-high 286 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. He opened the scoring with a 71-yard punt return touchdown and began the second half with a 58-yard interception return for a score.

His night also included three tackles and a 32-yard kickoff return.

The Hawks are 10-0 for only the second time in school history. They will face fourth-ranked and unbeaten AHSTW-Avoca in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. on Friday in Sully.

Squires finished with 81 rushing yards and two scores on 10 carries. His 5-yard TD run in the first made it 15-0.

Both teams scored 14 points in the second. Noun Harder sprinted for a 59-yard TD run in the frame and Conner Maston threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Rea with 1:50 to play in the first half.

Maston, who moved to receiver from quarterback this season, found Rea as part of a wide receiver reverse pass.

The other touchdown in the third for the Hawks was a 15-yard run by C.J. Nikkel. Lannon Montgomery added a 1-yard TD run early in the fourth.

Squires scored on a 51-yard TD run with 9:21 to go in the game and Noun Harder capped the scoring with a 58-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth.

The Hawks' defense was led by Squires, who had six tackles and two sacks. Keegan DeWitt and Dawson James both registered eight tackles, Maston had seven tackles and an interception and Lane Fisk collected six tackles.

Mathias Torres tallied four tackles and Jacob Fogle recorded one sack.

Mount Ayr (8-2) was led by Jaixen Frost, who threw for 255 yards and had four touchdown passes and one interception.

Frost, who threw two TD passes in each half, also rushed for 62 yards on 10 carries.

Jaydon Knight hauled in six catches for 94 yards and three scores and rushed for 32 yards on three carries.
