Cammack is the fifth suspect charged with second-degree murder in connection with the Aug. 4 slaying of 34-year-old Jeremiah Williams. Cammack was taken into custody in Centerville, Miss., and was transported to the Terrebonne Parish jail Thursday, where he is being held on $1 million bail.

Caden Johnson, 18, of Thibodaux, and Jamyre Mitchell, 18, of Lafayette, Christopher Cammack and Kobe Wilson, both 21-year-olds from Thibodaux, were previously arrested for their suspected involvement in the shooting, authorities said.

Authorities found Williams dead in the driver’s seat of a car that struck a home shortly after 3 a.m. Aug. 4 on Johnson Ridge Lane. The Sheriff’s Office said security video was used to identify at least two vehicles involved in the shooting.

Terrebonne Sheriff Tim Soignet thanked the Houma Police Department, Thibodaux Police Department, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Thibodaux City Marshal’s Office, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshal’s Service, Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office, for their help in the investigation.

The sheriff also thanked the Johnson Ridge community and other residents in Terrebonne and Lafourche for providing important information that led to the arrests.

“Without the bonds that the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau has formed with the community and other law enforcement agencies, this investigation would have taken a lot longer to resolve,” Soignet said.

If convicted of second-degree murder, the five suspects face mandatory life sentences without parole, probation or early release.
