Fight leads to shots fired in Pecanland Mall, Monroe Police Department arrests two

No injuries were reported Saturday evening after an unknown gunman fired shots inside Pecanland Mall in Monroe, according to a news release from the city of Monroe.

Officers with the Monroe Police Department responded to fight inside the food court just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to police, an argument between two juveniles escalated into a physical fight. As officers were intervening, an unknown gunman discharged a firearm inside the mall. No one was shot.

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the fight.

Detectives are reviewing video footage from the mall and actively working the scene.

At the time of the incident, there were at least seven off-duty officers working at the mall. Another nine MPD units reported to the scene.
