Game recap: Matt Kroon's two-run double keyed a four-run second inning and Reading went on to beat Somerset in a Double-A Northeast League game at FirstEnergy Stadium to snap a two-game losing streak.

The Fightins (30-44) gave up a run in the first on a sacrifice fly by Michael Beltre before taking the lead in the second.

Luke Miller led off with a double and Logan Landon singled. After Jack Conley struck out, Colby Fitch walked to load the bases. Landon then doubled to center to give Reading a 2-1 lead.

Arquimedes Gamboa followed with an RBI single and Josh Stephen with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1.

Beltre (2-for-4) hit a two-run homer in the third for Somerset (44-29) to cut it to 4-3.

The Fightins scored a run on a passed ball in the fifth to go up 5-3.

Isiah Gilliam homered to lead off the sixth to cut it to 5-4, but relievers Nick Lackney, Zach Warren and Billy Sullivan preserved the lead.

Sullivan pitched out of trouble in the ninth to earn his second save. He hit leadoff hitter Brandon Lockridge, then picked him off. Oswald Peraza singled before Oswaldo Cabrera flied out. Pereza stole second, but Sullivan struck out Beltre to end it.

Phillers: Reading starter Jack Perkins allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks in four innings. He struck out five. ... Austin Ross (6-2) pitched a perfect fifth to earn the win. ... Kroon and Miller each went 2-for-4. Gamboa was 2-for-5.

On-deck: Reading and Somerset play the third game of the six-game series Thursday at FirstEnergy Stadium at 7:05 p.m. Righty James McArthur (1-5, 5.93) is scheduled to start for the Fightins.
