Is this couple serious or are they just trolling?
A Filipino-American woman and her husband are now viral after holding a Donald Trump-themed wedding in Michigan this past Fourth of July.
Audra Johnson, who said she’s the granddaughter of a Filipino immigrant, wed her husband Jeff Johnson, an African-American war veteran, in Historic Bowen Mills in a wedding that pays tribute to Trump and “Make America Great Again,” the president’s infamous campaign slogan.
Like most weddings, the event also had its own hashtag, #MAGAPatriotWedding, reported Michigan Live.
The couple’s devotion to Trump appeared in many of the wedding details. Audra’s nails were painted with American flags and she wore a gown at the reception that had “Make America Great Again” written all over it. It was made from a MAGA flag and designed by Andre Soriano, another Filipino-American Trump supporter who was responsible for singer Joy Villa’s MAGA dress at the 2017 Grammy Awards, reported New York Post.
At the wedding reception, guests wore the signature red MAGA hats and were asked to sign a petition in support of the anti-abortion heartbeat bill, reported Newsweek. Such proposed laws prevent a woman from getting an abortion once a heartbeat is detected from the fetus.
While photos from the big day show guests happy over the couple’s right-wing views, the groom’s father did not show up because the couple supported Trump. The bride is estranged from her brother for the same reason.
However, from Audra’s perspective, having a MAGA wedding was a way to show that Trump supporters are not all the same.
“I really feel like we are such a mixed family, he’s African-American, I’m Filipino, I thought it was really important to show people that the stereotype that the whole Trump supporters are racists, stuff like that, we both thought it was important to show that’s wrong,” Audra told television channel Fox 17.
Audra also said that while she’s a Trump fan, she would “absolutely” attend a Barack Obama-themed wedding. She also denied that it was a political stunt.
“I want people to realize that it was such a diverse group of people that got together that day. We were able to understand that we don’t all have to agree to still share love together. I think that’s what people are missing out on,” she said.
However, many netizens don’t feel the same way as their wedding was widely ridiculed on Twitter.

“First of all, that dress is hideous regardless of the writing on it. You needed a sweetheart neckline and definitely no ruffles. Second, this woman is apparently Fil-Am (she states she’s Filipino in the video interview). So … That’s a lot to process,” wrote @agasramirez, a Filipino Twitter user.
