“Stranger Things” star Joe Keery is in the area shooting an action film called “Marmalade.”

The 30-year-old actor drew a crowd in the hundreds Monday in Jordan, a town about 45 miles southwest of St. Paul. The four-week shoot began last Monday with three days of filming in Stillwater followed by two in Henderson, which is farther southwest from Jordan. The production logged a second day in Jordan on Tuesday.

London-based Signature Films, which also has an office in Beverly Hills, is producing the film. A now-deleted post on the company’s website described the film as such: “From his prison cell, small town simpleton Baron tells a tale to his cellmate Otis about his rebellious girlfriend Marmalade, including a bank heist they committed together. After learning of the stolen cash, Otis agrees to help plan an escape to reunite Baron with his true love. Little does anyone know the master puppeteering at work manipulating them all.”

A Massachusetts native, Keery appeared in a series of commercials and on the TV shows “Empire” and “Chicago Fire” before landing his role on “Stranger Things.” The science fiction/horror/drama is one of Netflix’s biggest hits, with the final two episodes of the fourth season set to stream on July 1.

First-time director Keir O’Donnell is best known for acting in “The Wedding Crasher,” “The Break-Up” and “American Sniper” and also has had recurring roles in “Fargo,” “Sons of Anarchy” and “United States of Tara.”

“Marmalade” also stars Camila Morrone (the recent remakes of “Death Wish” and “Valley Girl”) and Aldis Hodge (“Straight Outta Compton,” “Black Adam”).
