Northern State University faculty showcase recital: Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the Northern State University Department of Music will hold its annual Faculty Showcase Recital at the Johnson Fine Arts Center Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater. Admission is free.

South Dakota Film Festival: Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Capitol Cinema,, 415 S. Main St. Four two-hour sessions are 12:30-10:30 p.m. Friday; another four sessions are 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday and three two-hour sessions are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 per session; $100 for a festival pass; and $200 for a VIP festival pass. The South Dakota Film Festival invites filmmakers from around the world to submit their best work to be shown during our festival. Northeast South Dakota Celtic Faire & Highland Games: Saturday and Sunday at Richmond Lake Youth Camp, 37925 Youth Camp Road. Events are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Entrance is $10 per person. The NESD Celtic Faire and Games is a family-friendly festival. This annual event provides an exciting opportunity for all individuals who have any interest in Celtic heritage, history, arts, sports, dance, music, food, merchandise, livestock and dog breeds.

SPURS Barn Dance fundraiser: Saturday from 4-11 p.m. at SPURS Therapeutic Riding Center, 1006 130th St. N.E. Tickets start at $25. Help SPURS celebrate 30 years in the community at our annual barn dance fundraiser.! There will be dinner, activities for the kids, silent and live auctions and a live band and dance.

St. Mary's Fall Festival: Sunday at Roncalli High School. Dinner will be served from 3-6:30 p.m. with take-out dinners available. Cost is $12 for adults; $8 for kids 6-12; and kids 5 and under free. Midway games and activities are open 2-7:30 p.m.
