Film trailer: Stephenie Meyer’s 'The Host'

'The Host,' based on the book by Stephenie Meyer, releases in 2013.

The first teaser trailer for The Host, based on the novel by The Twilight Saga's author Stephenie Meyer, and starring Saoirse Ronan (Hanna, The Lovely Bones), was released March 22.

The sci-fi thriller is the story of a young heroine among an alien race that invades earth and inhabits humans, but she fights to keep control of her mind and spirit.

Since the film releases in 2013, there is little film footage in the mysterious trailer, but it is timed for the release of The Hunger Games, another dystopian fantasy based on a young adult book.

Ronan is simply seen with a glowing halo in her eyes, like other are people depicted. Her voiceover says, "The earth is at peace," and "The world has never been more perfect," adding, "It is no longer your world."

Directed by Andrew Niccol (In Time) who also wrote the screenplay, it costars Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) and William Hurt (Into the Wild).

The Host is set to hit theaters on March 29, 2013.
