The Dolphins listed star receiver Tyreek Hill among those questionable for Sunday’s home game against the Jets (1 p.m., CBS).

Hill was unable to practice all week because of an ankle injury sustained on Monday against Tennessee.

“When we talk, if he’s confident he can go be himself and [have the] support of trainers that are responsible to the risk, then he will play,” coach Mike McDaniel said Friday. “If not, he won’t.”

Guard Robert Hunt (hamstring) and safety DeShon Elliott (concussion protocol) were ruled out for Sunday’s game.

Also listed as questionable, besides Hill: cornerback Xavien Howard (hip), left tackle Terron Armstead (knee/ankle), right tackle Austin Jackson (oblique), linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel (oblique), safety Jevon Holland (knees), running back De’Von Achane (toe), Liam Eichenberg (calf) and Chris Brooks (knee).

All of those players were limited in Friday’s practice except for Hill, who didn’t practice.

Armstead said Friday that he is “close” to returning.

Achane and Holland were working only on the side on Friday during the brief portion of practice open to reporters.

Holland was non-committal about his status for Sunday, which suggests he might miss a third game in a row with two sprained MCLs.

“Day to day, taking it week to week, Holland said Friday. “Feeling good, coming along nicely.”

With Elliott out and Holland in doubt, the Dolphins’ safety group Sunday could include Brandon Jones, Elijah Campbell and perhaps Nik Needham.

Eichenberg also worked only on the side Friday, with a trainer, during the portion of practice open to reporters. He said “I would not be surprised if I’m out there” but added that a trainer will decide his availability for the game.

It’s the first time he has had a calf injury. “It feels like a bruise, not too bad,” he said. “I’m walking around fine.”

If Eichenberg cannot play, the Dolphins likely would turn to veteran center Jonotthan Harrison, who signed this week. He has been on rosters this decade, but hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since 2019.

“I think he’ll play well if he has to be out there,” Eichenberg said.

The Dolphins indicated that it’s not unrealistic to sign a center on a Tuesday and expect him to start Sunday, if needed.

“Is it unheard of? No, it’s not unheard of,” offensive coordinator Frank Smith said. “I remember I was in Chicago in 2016 and it was last cuts and we signed Logan Paulsen. He showed up on Monday and started that Sunday. He had no idea when he walked in what any one of our words meant. So that was actually very impressive.”

Veteran center Matt Skura, who joined the Dolphins’ practice squad this week, is also available.

Lester Cotton, who has been the team’s No. 3 center, likely will be needed at guard on Sunday, because Isaiah Wynn is on injured reserve and Hunt is out. Robert Jones would start at the other guard spot and said he feels healthy after dealing with knee injuries this season.

THIS AND THAT

Christian Wilkins and Zach Sieler are sixth and 10th among interior defensive lineman in snaps, and Pro Football Focus rates their performance 20th and 55th, respectively, among 131 defensive lineman.

Defensive line coach Austin Clark said of Wilkins reaching a career high with 7.5 sacks: “I put his preparation up against anybody’s. He’s always played with a high motor. He’s letting plays come to him, not chasing them.”

Of both of their high snap counts, Clark said: “It’s a requirement of the position. We’re blessed to have both of them. It’s a testament to how they work in the offseason, how they get their bodies in shape, how they practice. These guys go hard.”

Meanwhile, Dolphins nose tackle Raekwon Davis is ranked 81st among the 131 interior defenders.

“Around the Philly game, he started doing a lot of the [great] things we’re doing,” Clark said. “He’s doing great inside. It’s tough duties with a lot of the stuff we do, with combination blocks.

“He’s starting to understand the scheme as the season goes on. From a mental aspect, he’s light years from where he’s been here. He’s definitely more durable.”

▪ CBS assigned its lead announcing team, Jim Nantz and Tony Romo, to Sunday’s Dolphins-Jets game. They were at the Dolphins facility on Friday.
