Final Tune-up For State: Watertown track athletes win eight events in meet at Huron

HURON — Watertown High School's track and field teams wrapped up the regular season by winning eight events Thursday in the Mark Wendelgass Relays.

The state meet runs May 26-28 at Sioux Falls.

The Arrows won four individual events in the girls division: Eve Hauger (400-meter dash, 1:01.44), Kate McElroy (1,600 run, 5:47.7), Myah Morris (100 hurdles, 15.17) and Maddy Rohde (javelin, 111-11). Hauger also joined Emery Thury, Jaida Young and Victoria Smith on the winning 1,600 relay (4:19.98).

Jaxson Fiechtner (800 run, 2:04.67), Collin Dingsor (300 hurdles, 41.85) and Owen Spartz (pole vault, 14-6) won events in the boys division.

Other Arrow Place Winners (Top 8) — Girls: Morris, eighth in 100 dash and second in long jump; Young, third in 400 dash and fourth in javelin; Thury, fifth in 400 dash; Smith, second in 800 run; Kristen Schulte, seventh in 800 run and fourth in 1,600 run; Emma List, second in 1,600 run; Ali Tesch, seventh in 1,600 run; Briella Van Dusseldorp, fifth in 100 hurdles; Hannah Walburg, eighth in 100 and 300 hurdles; Trinity Hodorff, second in pole vault; Abby Beynon and Ericka Woolley, tied for eighth in pole vault; Makenna Blank, seventh in long jump; Hayden Thomas, fifth in triple jump; and Malia Kranz, seventh in discus.

Boys: Juven Hudson, third in 100 dash, fourth in long jump and sixth in triple jump; Cole Holden, sixth in 100 dash, seventh in shot put and second in javelin; Hassan Jabbie, second in 200 dash; Jesse Pietz, fifth in 200 dash; Dalton Baumberger, third in 400 dash; Evan Halbe, fourth in 800 run; Dingsor, second in 110 hurdles; Jack Heesch, sixth in pole vault; Tommy Foley, tied for seventh in pole vault; Boaz Raderschadt, second in shot put; Paden Johnson, sixth in shot put; and Ashton First In Trouble, eighth in javelin.

Other Arrow Relays — Girls: Fifth in 400 (Reese DeVille, McKenzie Lewis, Erika Andrews and MaKia Moe), fifth in 800 (Moe, Emma and Molly Hendricks and Anna Hirtz) and second in medley (Bri Johnson, M. and E. Hendricks and List). Boys: Fifth in 800 (Baumberger, Pietz, Jeremiah Schulte and Andre Baumgart).
