Final undeveloped oceanfront land on Kiawah Island now for sale for $39M. Take a look

It’s been described as the final and largest undeveloped oceanfront parcel on the ever-popular Kiawah Island.

Seven acres, 250 feet of ocean frontage is for sale — $39.5 million.

If you need to finance that’s $259,570 a month. But why would you?

It’s located at 99 Flyway Drive in the center of the island, not too terribly far from the Ocean Course, where the PGA championship was played in 2021 or The Beach Club with its three pools, expansive ocean views and fine dining.

Kiawah has continued to increase in popularity, attracting such notables as President Joe Biden and family last summer — they’re at Lake Tahoe this year — and previously Bill and Hillary Clinton, Oprah, Reese Witherspoon and George Clooney.

Former South Carolina governor and United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley paid $2.4 million for a 5,000-plus square-foot Mediterranean-style home on a half-acre overlooking the Kiawah River.

In 2021, the most expensive house sold on the barrier island was reported when an LLC paid $20.5 million for 16 acres on the waterfront and a house once owned by the Vanderhorst family, which owned most of the island for 200 years.

Also for sale is 101 Flyway Drive, a four-story estate on 1.5 acres with a 360-degree view from a rooftop deck. Asking price is $20.8 million for the three-year-old home.

The 8,400 square-foot house has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and three half baths. The garage with doors made of mahogany is 3,896 square feet with space for four cars.

Outside, the house has double hand-dipped red cedar shake siding and a Vermont slate and copper roof.

Inside is handmade ironwork, imported French oak hardwood flooring and white stone countertops and baths.

There is a club room off the entry that includes three televisions with surround sound.

“The sunlit dining area is sweeping in size, and is completely open to one of the largest, most spectacular kitchens on Kiawah,” the listing says. “The spacious kitchen with its supersized center island that includes seating for at least six adults, is a chef’s dream” with professional-grade appliances.

The living area with floor to ceiling windows is on the second floor to “take advantage of the magnificent ocean views.”

The saltwater pool is the centerpiece of what the Realtor calls a “ backyard retreat,” with a lockable, metal and brick fence and a private boardwalk to the beach.

A mudroom has French limestone floors and countertops.

Another oceanfront homesite is available on Flyway Drive, one acre located at No. 112 for $13.9 million. It has “stunning panoramic views of the beach to the South and West,” the listing says.

A house as large as 12,000 square feet could be built there.
