DISCUSSION: Finance Director Janet Strimlan said the budget is anticipated to be $66 million.

It includes an increase in cost for purchasing power, natural gas and car insurance.

OTHER BUSINESS

  • Phil Dirt and the Dozers will perform Thursday, July 21 from 7 p.m.to 9 p.m. at the Rehm Gazebo, lower Orr Park. The band will perform rock and roll classics like the Beach Boys, Four Seasons and the Eagles.

  • The last concert in the season will be performed by the Akron Derbytown Chorus on Thursday, Aug, 4, at 7 p.m. Mayor Dave Handwerk noted that batting cages won’t be used during concerts starting at 6 p.m. as it’s close to the Rehm Gazebo location.

  • Community Day is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 6 at noon. The Orr Pool will be free for the public with food and music. In addition, A kickball tournament will be held for children and adults.

Council postponed discussing four resolutions to the second reading as two council members, CJ Handwerk and John Lorson, were absent from the meeting.

UP NEXT Council President Paul Vance scheduled a special meeting on Monday, July 25 to discuss this resolution with the council.
