Finding Alice star Joanna Lumley has addressed the possibility of a second series of the ITV drama.

The Absolutely Fabulous actress was asked about whether or not the new series could return for a second stint while appearing on The One Show today (February 1) to promote her new travel show Home Sweet Home: Travels in My Own Land.

The first series of Finding Alice, which stars Keeley Hawes as a grieving wife who untangles a web of lies and deceit after her husband's death, is currently airing on ITV, with a second run yet to be commissioned.

However, Lumley, who plays Alice's mum Sarah and the not-so-nice wife of Roger Dillon (Nigel Havers), is hopeful the show will return.

"I don't know yet, because it hasn't quite finished airing, and I think that it hasn't been commissioned yet. If it has, I don't know," she told presenter Alex Jones in response to a viewer question.

"So we keep our fingers crossed like all these things. You just never know what's in the offing, but I'm so thrilled [to be part of the series]."

So far, the series has received a mixed response from viewers, with its blend of genuinely morose drama and black comedy failing to hit the right note for some.

Finding Alice airs Sundays on ITV at 9pm. The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
