A free storytelling event focused on Coconino County’s affordable housing crisis is coming to Flagstaff this month.

“Arizona Storytellers Presents: Finding Home” will examine the region’s housing crisis through the lens of locals working to address the issue. Potential short- and long-term solutions will be discussed.

The Oct. 26 event, which will take place at the Coconino Center for the Arts, marks Arizona Storytellers’ Flagstaff debut and the final stop in a three-part storytelling series on affordable housing. Past events took place in Yuma in April and Phoenix in August.

Speakers will include representatives of Catholic Charities, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Arizona and Housing Solutions of Northern Arizona.

A panel moderated by Flagstaff Business News editor Bonnie Stevens will feature John Conley, owner of restaurants Salsa Brava and Fat Olives, and Mike Penca, Flagstaff Unified School District superintendent. They will discuss how a lack of affordable housing creates challenges for hiring and retaining workers.
