LAS CRUCES - Fine Arts Flea Market's monthly event on the Plaza de Las Cruces will have a special twist to it this month as New Mexico celebrates 110 years of statehood.
The market is a monthly "mercado" every first Friday of the month in downtown Las Cruces. It is a community that started in 2020 on Picacho Avenue by Saba from Barricade Culture, It has since grown into a place where artistic, creative and small business communities can showcase their products, creativity and business.
The first market event of 2022 will be from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at the Plaza de Las Cruces.
"We will be celebrating New Mexico’s 110th year with a bang!" organizers wrote in a news release.
New Mexico became a state Jan. 6, 1912.
Deltaphonic, a lively funk band from New Orleans, will be featured Friday along with live art, live screen printing, 110 vendors, art fight competitions and more. Attendees are encouraged to partake in the fun activities.
"We are a true mercado that believes in keeping the spirit and culture of New Mexico alive," the news release stated.
