Finland announces 20th aid package worth over $100 million to Ukraine

Finland has handed over a new military aid package worth 100 million euros ($109 million) to Ukraine, the country's Defense Ministry announced on Nov. 17.

It’s the 20th aid package Finland has given to Ukraine, worth a total of 1.5 billion euros ($1.6 billion).

Finnish President Sauli Niinistö made this decision on Nov. 17, at the request of the government.

"What is at stake in Ukraine's defensive struggle is the security environment for Europe and Finland over the next decade," said Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen, adding that the country, along with its allies, remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting Ukrainians.

No information about the contents of the package, the method of its delivery, or the time of arrival is disclosed for security reasons.

The decision considered both the needs of Ukraine and the resources of the Finnish Defense Forces.

On Oct. 11, following a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format), Finland announced the allocation of the 19th aid package to Ukraine, totalling almost 95 million euros ($103 million). The Finnish authorities did not disclose the contents of the package or the terms of delivery.
