Finnish PM: NATO membership is an 'act of peace'
STORY: "In my opinion, the NATO membership is an act of peace, it's about war never returning to Finland," Prime Minister Sanna Marin told parliament.
A majority of lawmakers have already signaled their support for membership.
On Sunday, May 15, Marin and President Sauli Niinisto confirmed Finland would apply for membership of the alliance in a historic policy shift prompted by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Sweden is also expected to follow suit as public support for membership has grown amid security concerns.
