Fios internet appears to be down in Hampton Roads

Fios home internet provided by Verizon appeared to be down in several Hampton Roads cities and elsewhere in the state Wednesday evening, with no word from the company on the cause of the outages or the time frame for resolving the issue.

Downdetector, a website that compiles independent user reports and problem indicators, reported a spike in outages at 9:10 p.m, with 11,355 reports. The website received less than 200 reports per hour over the past 24 hours.

Virginia Beach, Hampton, Newport News and Chesapeake appeared on the list of most reported locations. Richmond and Henrico were also on the list.

Outside Virginia, Verizon customers in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Houston reported outages.

Verizon customers took to social media to report the outage.

A customer support user account responded to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, about outages in Hampton.

“Our repair team has been dispatched to get you all back up and running as soon as possible,” the account @VerizonSupport replied.
