Fire Breaks Out in Nottinghamshire During UK Heat Wave

Fifteen fire crews were deployed to fight a fire that broke out in Blidworth, UK, on Tuesday, July 19, according to the Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.

The service said authorities had issued evacuation orders earlier in the day, but local residents were allowed to return home in the early evening.

According to a post on the Nottinghamshire Police Department’s Twitter page, crews were still fighting the fire and road closures remained in place as of around 6:15 pm local time.

Temperatures in the United Kingdom reached a record high of 40.2 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) on Tuesday, according to the Met Office. Credit: Lisa Allison via Storyful
