Fire breaks out overnight at Butler steel plant, site of large fire in 2022

Crews were called to a fire at a steel plant in Butler County overnight.

Officials said a one-alarm fire at the Cleveland Cliffs Butler Works along Armco Drive in Lyndora was first reported around 12:30 a.m.

It is believed the fire started in the melt shop. No injuries were reported.

The scene was clear by 2 a.m.

A large fire broke out at the plant in March 2022. A Cleveland-Cliffs spokesperson told Channel 11 that fire started in an overhead cable tray at a finishing line. No one was injured.
