Fire burns through La Jolla apartment, displacing six

SAN DIEGO — A fire ripped through a La Jolla apartment complex early Tuesday, leaving six people displaced.

According to San Diego Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Aaron Bothwell, crews were sent to the scene around 4:15 a.m. after receiving a call reporting the fire in one of the units at the Park La Jolla Apartment Complex on 4302 Carla Way.

Video obtained by FOX 5 at the scene the second story unit almost entirely engulfed in flames.

A total of 26 personnel responded to the fire, including four engines and two trucks. Bothwell said responding firefighters used an aggressive fire attack to fight the flames, knocking it out in about 15 minutes.

Six people, including two children, were displaced due to the fire, according to SDFD. No injuries to the occupants of the apartment or to fire crews.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No further details were immediately available.
