Fire crews called into rescue mode for a two-alarm fire at a southeast Fresno home

Fire crews acted with heightened urgency at a two-alarm house fire Thursday night in southeast Fresno amid fears that two or more people might have been inside.

The Fresno Fire Department, just after 7 p.m., received reports of the house fire in the area of Braly and Sarah avenues. As firefighters were responding, according to Battalion Chief Tim Fulmer, they received additional reports that two people had gone inside, prompting crews to call in a second alarm and go into rescue mode.

Crews arrived and found the home engulfed in heavy flames, Fulmer said, and immediately began to work on controlling the blaze.

Firefighters learned that the two people had managed to get out of the home before crews arrived.

Though injuries were avoided, one woman was left displaced by the damage from the fire.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
