Fire crews rescue fisherman stranded on rock in Clackamas River

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was rescued by emergency responders after being stuck on a rock while fishing on the Clackamas River on Wednesday, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

Authorities say the man was fishing just south of Estacada near East Faraday Road and found himself stranded when the snowy conditions led to a rapid increase in water level.

Will you see another round of freezing rain? Depends on where you are

Officials with the Estacada Fire District were able to use a specialized rope rescue to reach the man and bring him to a safe location, where he was then medically assessed, authorities say.

The Estacada Fire District was assisted in this rescue by Clackamas Fire technical rescue, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Deputies, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue’s water rescue team and AMR.
