Fire damages apartment building on U.S. 11 in Weyers Cave

WEYERS CAVE — A Friday night fire damaged an apartment building on U.S. 11, across the street from Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave.

The fire took place at the College Woods Duplexes.

Augusta County Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Mace said the fire was called in just minutes after 7 p.m. He said when members of the Weyers Cave Volunteer Fire Company arrived, they saw a man dumping water on the fire with a medium-sized plastic garbage can in an effort to douse the flames.
