Fire damages Flint River Township home

There were no reported injuries after fire did an estimated $80,000 of damage to a home in rural Flint River Township.

On April 11 at 6:04 p.m., the Burlington Fire Department was dispatched for smoke
coming from a residence in the 16000 of Kingwood Estates Dr. in Middletown. Burlington Fire arrived 14 minutes later and discovered fire through the roof of the home and set up water shuttle operations.

The Burlington Fire Department was assisted by the Danville Fire Department, Gladstone Fire Department, West Burlington Fire Department, Alliant Energy and Gas and the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office. The last unit cleared the scene at 9:25 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the incident. The residence sustained major heat and water damage. There were no working smoke alarms present in the home. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
