Fire damages Scott Twp. home

Nov. 29—SCOTT TWP. — A state police fire marshal is investigating a fire that burned through a township residence Tuesday morning.

Firefighters descended on Justus Boulevard at about 7:45 a.m. as smoke filled a home at the intersection of Kazmierski Lane, a private drive.

A neighbor reported the fire to 911 after seeing smoke, said Chris Uhrin, deputy fire chief of the Justus Volunteer Fire Company.

Uhrin said flames shot through the roof of the residence, which was believed to be a summer home. Fire in the basement compromised the flooring inside and forced crews to battle it from the exterior.

In total, firefighters from 14 companies in Lackawanna and Wyoming Counties fought the second-alarm blaze.

No injuries were reported, Uhrin said. No one was home at the time, he said.
