  1. Firefighters in Raleigh are calling for more staff and funding with many saying the department is at a breaking point. In a message on social media, the Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association said that personnel are "greatly overworked" due to understaffing and underfunding. (CBS17)

  2. Raleigh police have arrested a man connected to arson at the Walmart on New Bern Avenue. Police say that the fire was intentionally set in the household products area at 6:00 pm on Tuesday. Dylan Warfield was charged with burning personal property and injury to real property. (WRAL)

  3. NC State was set to play in the Holiday Bowl against UCLA on Tuesday afternoon but an hour before the game was set to begin, it was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. NCSU head coach Dave Doeren said that the Wolfpack had 100% of the team vaccinated in preparation to play the game, and they didn't think the news was real at first. (WCNC)

  4. A Raleigh police officer was assaulted during a traffic stop on Tuesday evening. The officer tried to stop and detain people on four wheelers, but one of the suspects assaulted the officer and the group got away on the stolen ATVs. (CBS17)

  5. Two local bars, Neuse River Brewing and Hoppy Endings, have reopened after being closed for several days awaiting COVID-19 test results. The owners of Hoppy Endings both came down with COVID-19, and the owner of Neuse River Brewing closed the Thursday before Christmas to ensure her staff could get tested. (abc11)
