FORT DEFIANCE — An Augusta County home in Fort Defiance was completely destroyed in a fire Monday afternoon.

The fire took place at 162 Chetola Trail.

"It probably burned awhile before he saw it," Schacht said.

Nobody was home when the fire started. At the scene Monday afternoon, Schacht said a cause had not yet been determined. Little was left of the residence.

Zillow lists an estimated price for the property at $485,000.

Besides Augusta County Fire-Rescue, firefighters from Staunton, Verona, Weyers Cave and New Hope responded to the scene.
