Fire displaces 11 in Enfield

Jun. 14—ENFIELD — Eleven people were displaced after a fire at a home on Lincoln Street today.

The department received a call about a fire at a multi-family home around 3 a.m., Thompsonville Fire Chief David Deskis said.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames in one of the homes' four units, which had spread to both floors, Deskis said. The flames were brought under control in about 30 minutes.

One resident suffered from smoke inhalation, but declined transportation to the hospital.

Deskis said the home was in poor condition from the fire and the smoke and water damage. The Red Cross responded to aid the families in finding a place to stay.

Detectives from the Enfield Police Department and the state fire marshal are aiding the local fire marshal in his investigation, Deskis said.
