Fire in a laundry room causes damage to the Lexington Hope Center, officials say

A small fire caused damage to the Hope Center Recovery for Men clinic Monday evening, according to the Lexington Fire Department.

The fire started in the laundry room of the building, according to Maj. Jessica Bowman with the fire department. Damage from the fire was contained to that room but several other units suffered water damage from the sprinkler system.

No injuries were reported, Bowman said.

The extent of the damage to the other units and a timeline for repairs is unknown, but the building is still operating functionally, according to Katie Vogul, the director of development for the Hope Center.

The Hope Center is a shelter for homeless and at-risk persons that provides multiple rehabilitation services, according to its website.
