Fire in Modesto destroys one home, damages 2 others

A fire in Modesto destroyed one home and damaged two others Friday afternoon, according to the fire department. The fire started just after 5 p.m. on Third and H streets, the Modesto Fire Department said. When crews arrived, they found a two-story house and two vehicles that were well involved. The fire had also begun to spread to nearby homes and vehicles, officials said. All residents were able to get out of the home safely, and the Red Cross is helping everyone find a place to stay the night. No injuries were reported in connection with the fire. Crews are still investigating the blaze.
