Firefighter injured while responding to building fire in White Center

An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at a building in Seattle’s White Center neighborhood on Saturday.

The building was reportedly under construction, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

Crews responded to reports of a fire at Southwest Roxbury Street and 18th Avenue Southwest around 1:45 p.m.

At about 2 p.m., firefighters transitioned to a defensive position as the building was at risk of collapsing.

The fire was brought under control by about 2:10 p.m. Crews remained on the scene to extinguish any hot spots.

One firefighter was transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition to be evaluated.

The fire was later determined to be intentionally set. The total estimated loss is $195,000.
