Firefighter killed in Sterling house explosion identified

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Loudoun County Fire and Rescue released the name of a firefighter who died in a house explosion in Sterling Friday night.

Trevor Brown, 45, was a member of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company and affiliated with the LC-CFRS since 2016.

Crews from Loudoun and Fairfax counties said there were 13 other people who were hurt in the explosion. That includes 11 first responders and two other people. Their injuries varied in severity.

Of the first responders who were hurt, four remained in the hospital as of late Saturday morning.

The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office still was looking into the circumstance surrounding the explosion. Crews initially went to a home on Silver Ridge Drive for a report of the smell of gas.
