Firefighters battle blaze at Brazil's biggest bus factory

BRASILIA (Reuters) - A large fire broke out on Sunday afternoon at the biggest bus factory in Brazil and firefighters were working to bring the flames under control, the factory's owner, Brazilian bus maker Marcopolo S.A., said. Fire services instructed residents living next to the factory in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande state, to stay away from the area because of the risk of explosions, the company said in a statement. The local fire chief's office said there were no injuries as the production line was closed on Sunday. Brazilian media showed images of large clouds of black smoke billowing from the site and reported that the fire began in the plastics sector of the factory. There was no immediate information on the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage. (Reporting by Anthony Boadle; Editing by Peter Cooney and Andrew Hay)
