Fire destroys Germantown condos

Firefighters battled a blaze at the Park Place Condominiums in Germantown on Monday afternoon.

The Germantown Fire Department (GFD) was called to the fire on Park Trail Drive, a city spokesperson said.

First responders completely blocked Farmington Boulevard between Cordes Road and Sunwood Lane while battling the blaze, according to GFD.

No one was injured, but a cat was killed in the fire. GFD saved a second cat.

Five total units sustained damage; however, only four of the units were displaced following the fire, according to a city spokesperson.

One of the units was unoccupied.

One condo sustained heavy damage. A second condo sustained heavy damage on the back of the unit; however, a city spokesperson said there was mostly water damage in the rest of it.
