Firefighters battle house fire in Thibodaux

Firefighters battled a house fire Monday afternoon in Thibodaux.

The Thibodaux and St. John volunteer fire departments were called about 12:02 p.m. to the 100 block of Len Court.

When fire crews arrived, they saw flames coming from the kitchen and smoke billowing out of vents on the roof, Thibodaux Assistant Fire Chief Glynn Comeaux said.

“The homeowners were home at the time of the fire, but there were no injuries,” Comeaux said. “They were all able to get out. The majority of damage was confined to the kitchen area.”

The home also had a functioning smoke alarm, Comeaux said.

The fire's cause remains under investigation.
