Firefighters battle Mojave Fire near Cemex Plant in downtown Victorville

Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the Mojave Fire on Tuesday night near the Cemex Cement Plant in downtown Victorville.

The Victorville Fire Department reported the vegetation fire at about 10:36 p.m., near the plant on E Street and between D Street and the Mojave River. San Bernardino County Fire, Cal Fire, and Cal OES also responded to the blaze.

Scanner reports indicated that just before 11 p.m., the fire was estimated at five acres with heavy fuels burning near the plant. Firefighters were concerned that the fire could spread if flames crossed a natural barrier to the south.

Just after 11:30 p.m., the fire had spread to about six acres, with spot fires reported in the area.
