All lanes of traffic on US 98 near Naval Live Oaks now open

All lanes of traffic on U.S. Highway 98 have reopened after being temporarily shutdown while firefighters battled a wildfire Sunday afternoon.

The wildfire at the Gulf Islands National Seashore in Gulf Breeze has been renamed the Jackson Fire and is 65% contained at 44 acres. National Park Service personnel have taken command of the fire.

Around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Santa Rosa County announced the fire was about 70 acres and worked throughout the day to contain it.

No homes were threatened during the event.
