A two-alarm fire that broke out at Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s $7 million home in Southwest Ranches was extinguished Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Just before 3 p.m., Hill was back at home in a walking boot on his left foot because of a lingering ankle injury. A team spokesperson said he rejoined his wife and mother outside the house after leaving practice in Miami Gardens. No one was injured.

His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told reporters at a news conference outside the home that there would be an official investigation into the cause of the matter, but the belief is that the fire was limited to one room.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who spoke to the media after practice, said he was unaware that Hill’s house caught on fire until after the team finished practice.

“I think that would be difficult for not just my teammates but anyone in general to be going through what Tyreeks’s going through right now,” Tagovailoa said. “I think the main thing is his family is safe, his loved ones are good, and he’s good as well. I know it’s a little cliche to say but things like that, part of the house, some of those things can be replaceable. But I’m just glad that a lot of his family members are safe.”

Tagovailoa added that he couldn’t say anything to Hill before he left.

Firefighters spent a few hours combating the flames

Around 1:55 p.m., multiple units from Davie Fire Rescue, Southwest Ranches and Broward Sheriff’s Office rushed to Hill’s two-story house, in the 16000 block of Berkshire Court, a spokesperson for Davie Fire Rescue Department said.

The Davie Fire Rescue Department covers part of Southwest Ranches, and the Southwest Ranches Volunteer Fire Department services the rest of the town.

Firefighters saw smoke coming from the home’s eave, the part of the roof that projects out and provides shade, fire rescue said.

Within a few hours, the fire was out. Now, officials are waiting for the all-clear to go into the home to investigate the cause.

Hill recently bought the multi-million dollar home

The 29-year-old Hill arrived in Miami via trade with the Kansas City Chiefs in March 2022. The Dolphins subsequently gave Hill a four-year, $120 million deal, making him the highest-paid receiver in the NFL by average annual value.

Hill leads the NFL this season in receiving yards (1,717) and touchdown catches (12).

In 2022, Hill purchased the home in the 16000 block of Berkshire Court, according to the Broward property appraiser’s website.
