putting their skills to the test

firefighting competition

"This is a very tough competition that is supposed to imitate what happens during fires or other firefighting actions."

The event included tasks like

carrying a 40 pound

firehose up a tower

and dragging a 175 pound

dummy to the finish line

"Competitors take part in the competition in full uniform weighing 53 pounds, including respiratory protective equipment. Of course, the mask is always on the face and firefighters use the equipment all the time. After the competition, hardly anyone wants to talk."
