Allegheny County Dispatchers say emergency crews were called to the 1700 block of Grandview Avenue at around 9:55 p.m.

A smoldering scene remained Monday morning several hours after fire destroyed what neighbors describe as an old bus garage and damaged several neighboring houses. Channel 11 observed that at least 5 homes sustained damage.

Firefighters from a dozen departments stayed on scene for hours, fighting to put out the flames as smoke billowed out around them. Officials at the scene said one person was taken to the hospital.

The fire reached three alarms and 12 fire companies responded.

The garage is a total loss. We don’t know the extent of damage to the other buildings.

One of the people affected by the fire is asking her neighbors to be on the lookout for her pitbull puppy. One-year-old Maggie was inside of the garage when it caught fire. Her owners don’t know if she made it out.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
