Firefighters respond to two Springfield house fires Tuesday afternoon

Eugene Springfield Fire responded to two unrelated house fires on 17th Street and H Street in Springfield on Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.

One fire started in the garage of a house in the 2300 block of 17th Street. It was caused by a malfunctioning table saw, officials said.

The other fire started at a home on H Street near Mill Street and was caused by a chicken coop's heat lamp that was too close to hay, officials said.

Both fires took place within 20 minutes of one another and are under control, officials said.

There were no reported injuries from either fire, officials said.
