Firefighters with Orange County Fire Rescue are working to extinguish a fire spanning about four or five acres near Christmas, in east Orange County, that started Thursday afternoon.

No buildings are in the path of the fire near the 4400 block of North Fort Christmas Road and has spawned a few spot fires, OCFR Lt. Claudia Fernandez said.

Firefighters were called to the area around 4:30 p.m., and by 7 p.m. Fernandez estimated the fire was 80% contained.

No responders have been injured in the blaze, she added.

Call records show at least 20 units have responded to the blaze. Fernandez said the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has sent a helicopter to watch the fire alongside an OCFR fire drone. The Department of Forestry is also at the scene, she said.

Officials have not yet determined the fire’s cause.
