Firelands People Fund makes grant to hospice

Mar. 18—ASHLAND — The Firelands Electric Cooperative People's Fund has approved a grant in the $1,737.50 to Hospice of North Central Ohio to fund the purchase of Deterra Drug Activation Kits.

These specially-designed kits provide caregivers with a safe way to dispose of unused medication. They safely deactivate and destroy medications making them unavailable for misuse and safe for disposal in normal trash.

"HNCO has been and continues to provide the very best care for hospice and palliative patients due in large part through the generous grant support received through The Firelands Electric Cooperative People Fund program," said Ralph Tomassi, HNCO chief development officer/senior administrator.

The mission of Firelands Electric People's Fund is the accumulation of funds for charitable purposes in the Firelands Rural Electric service area. The program receives its funding from members who allow their bills to be rounded up each month to the next dollar amount. These funds are placed in a charitable trust fund. All available funds are then distributed quarterly to qualified charitable organizations.
