Fireworks Mistaken for Gunshots Cause Panic at NYC's Washington Square Park After Pride March

Crowds ran from Washington Square Park in New York when fireworks were mistaken for gunshots after the city’s Pride March on Sunday, June 26.

Video posted by Eli Erlick shows a chaotic scene as people flee from the park on Sunday evening. Erlick said, “Queer and trans people are so worried about shootings now that there was a stampede at Pride.” A similar panic-inciting incident happened at San Francisco Pride when someone sprayed mace into a crowd.
