Fireworks sales begin Monday in Pueblo, and Riverwalk's annual Fourth of July show is a go

Puebloans can purchase legal fireworks starting June 27 and set them off on the Fourth of July, weather permitting, according to city and county officials.

Legal fireworks include fountains, ground spinners, smoke bombs and sparklers that do not "explode" or "lift off the ground," according to city of Pueblo and Pueblo County guidelines.

"Whatever is sold in the stands is legal, and there is no restrictions at this time," said Gayle Perez, Public and Media Information Officer at the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office.

While there’s enough moisture in the forecast in the coming days to permit the lighting of legal fireworks on July 4, the sheriff's office and the Pueblo Fire Department will continue to monitor weather conditions the week of the holiday.

"In the event that weather conditions would prevent their use, they may be restricted," Pueblo Fire Inspector Erik Duran said. "There's always that disclaimer, especially if we have sustained high winds."

While fireworks may be bought on June 27, the use of fireworks is limited to between 7 a.m. and midnight on July 4 within Pueblo city limits. There are no time or day restrictions for setting off legal fireworks in Pueblo County.

Fireworks show and celebration ready to light up Riverwalk in Pueblo

After being scaled down in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual 4th of July Fireworks Celebration on the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo returns this year at full strength.

The celebration will feature live entertainment by Rhett Haney, a country musician who has spent over 20 years in Denver's music scene and shared the stage with stars like Toby Keith.
