First 10th Congressional District forum held on Saturday

(WHTM) – On Saturday afternoon the first 10th congressional district forum was held.

All eight Democratic candidates were at Widner University in Dauphin County. People had a chance to meet the candidates and ask questions.

The candidates are:

  • Shamaine Daniels

  • Mike O’Brien

  • Rick Coplen

  • Janelle Stelson

  • John Broadhurst

  • Bob Forbes

  • Blake Lynch

  • William Lillich

Some candidates spoke to abc27 about why they would be the best choice for Republican Scott Perry’s seat.

William Lillich said, “I can do that, I can get people to show up, I can get people to vote.”

“We are around PA 10 all the time, we understand PA 10,” said Robert Forbes.

Blake Lynch said, “Our current congressman is too busy fighting culture wars and understanding the needs that are really on the ground here in central PA.”

The candidates also had the chance to talk about issues the country faces and why they would be the best person to fix them.

Lynch said, “I understand the issues that working families face.”

Issues such as inflation.

“Inflation in housing is rapid,” said John Broadhurst.

The crisis at the southern border.

Shamaine Daniels said, “Comprehensive immigration reform because we need a workforce for both agriculture and manufacturing.”

Women’s reproductive rights…

“Scott Perry celebrated that decision and in fact he wants a nationwide abortion ban. He wants to tell you what to do with your body,” said Janelle Stelson.

Matt Beynon, a spokesperson for Scott Perry said, “Today’s forum was simply a race to embrace the failed Biden policies that have left south central Pennsylvania families struggling, our southern border wide open, and our nation embarrassed and weakened on the global stage. The more they talk, the more out of touch they reveal their candidacies to be.”
